Leicester Festival Summer Sundae Weekender has announced a raft of new names for its weekender taking place at De Montfort Hall and Gardens between the 12th, 13th and 14th of August. New names include Everything Everything, King Creosote, Tom Williams & The Boat and the Pierces.

This fourth wave of announcements includes British alternative rock band Everything Everything whose rise to fame was bolstered when they gained a highly coveted spot on the BBC’s Sound of 2010 poll. The bewitching Portico Quartet will also be bringing their exotic, hypnotic sound to the Summer Sundae stage and the much admired King Creosote will be joining musical forces with electronic wizz John Hopkins for a collaboration that is certain to wow our lucky festivalgoers. We are also thrilled to reveal the inclusion of New Yorker sister-sister outfit, The Pierces along with kings of nu-folk Tom Williams and the Boat, the highly original 6 piece funky-bhangra-reggae-rock band that are Kissmet, acoustic folk songstress Kitty MacFarlane, and last but by no means least Oklahoma indie rockers Other Lives.

Summer Sundae Weekender are also proud supporters of local talent, and what a talented bunch we have for you this year! Supreme wordsmith Gallery 47 will be joined by hot new band The Paradimes, electronic project Dark Dark Horse, Nottingham natives Fists, Hhymn and Manière des Bohémiens, chilled out electracousticians I am in Love, the dark and bluesy We Three and the Death Rattle and experimental powerpoppers You Slut!

We are also thrilled to announce Jon Richardson, Simon Evans and Kerry Gilberts as new additions to the line up for this year’s side-splitting EFESTIVALS COMEDY TENT brought to you in association with the Leicester Comedy Festival.

Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee, regular Have I Got News For You panellist, and new team member on Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Week, Jon Richardson is currently on a UK tour with his new show It’s Not Me, It’s You. Simon Evans has appeared on most of the TV stand up comedy showcases and a number of topical comedy shows, including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, The Way It Is and The Comic Side of Seven Days. Simon is a stalwart of Radio Four Comedy having appeared in many episodes of the News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth, True Lies and seven series as anchor and principal writer on The Way It Is. ‘…With his aloof presence and precise, sardonic wit, dripping disdain from every perfectly pronounced word. And what words… his haughty vocabulary perfectly emphasizing such a perfectly smug, high-status position you’d think him worthy of leading the Conservative Party.’ – Chortle.co.uk

Since her debut Edinburgh show in 2003, Kerry Gilbert has become a well-known face on the comedy circuit. With her then writing partner, Kelly McGolpin, she became the youngest performer at the infamous character comedy night Ealing Live, working with Mighty Boosh director Paul King and acclaimed stand-up John Gordillo. In 2005, Kerry performed at the Pleasance, Edinburgh with Steve Oram and Alex Kirk in the sell-out comedy Denim. Over the past Kerry has performed regularly on the live comedy circuit as a solo act over the past three years and is part of The Sketchy Collective – a group of up-and-coming sketch and character comedians whose monthly comedy night was recommended in The Independent as one of London’s best comedy sketch nights.
