British Sea Power release their new single ‘Georgie Ray’ on the 25th of July. You can listen to it below! Brian Cox is set to join the band onstage at Jodrell Bank on 2nd July.

On the 25th July 2011 British Sea Power will release their new single ‘Georgie Ray’ in digital format. The track is a new mix by Steve Power (Robbie Williams, Blur, Kylie Minogue) of the original version on their current album ‘Valhalla Dancehall’.

‘Georgie Ray’ alludes to the writers George Orwell and Ray Bradbury, the latter best known for his dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451: “Sometimes,” says BSP frontman Yan, “you end up thinking science fiction is all Star Trek and Buck Rogers, but great writers wrote sci fi too. In this song George Orwell and Ray Bradbury are combined into one person. It’s a song that looks into the possibly doom-laden future of nowadays and optimistically hopes for something better.”

The extraterrestrial fascinations of Bradbury will be built on when

British Sea Power play at Jodrell Bank Observatory on the 2nd of July alongside The Flaming Lips. They will perform under the giant Lovell Telescope, the most powerful radio telescope in the UK. Here they will be joined live onstage by physicist and presenter Brian Cox.
