Givers are a quintet from Lafayette, a small city in the South of Louisiana. Following Hurricane Katrina founding members Taylor Guarisco (singer & guitarist) and Tiffany Lamson (singer, ukulele & percussionist) moved back to their hometown and were joined by Kirby Campbell (drums, programming & vocals), Nick Stevens (keyboards & flute) and Josh LeBlanc (bass guitar). The band recorded their self-titled debut EP in 2009, which attracted the attention of Dirty Projectors, whom they supported on their 2010 US tour.

Givers’ music is not dissimilar to one-hit-wonders Black Kids, in that they possess dueling vocals and set them to xylophone aided pop tunes. Their songs are a sure crowd pleaser and it’s no wonder publications larger than this humble blog are crying “summer anthem of 2011″.

Their debut single “Up Up Up” was mixed by Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter) and is due for release on Glassnote and Island Records this July 4th. They’ll tour the UK in July/August.
