VIDEO: Alela Diane – ‘The Wind’

The video was shot and directed by Jason Reid and Darren Lund and filmed around the lush greens of Portland and the Pacific Northwest, including the dunes of Florence, Oregon. It’s a dark video, as is the song, which was written in response to a dear friend of Alela’s being randomly murdered. Alela says: “following the incident – I had a series of dreams in which an organ was playing itself – or rather a spirit was playing it, I don’t know.  Life is short and Death is a hard act to follow – that’s this song. The chorus, “The Wind” part was written by Tom (Bevitori, Alela’s husband) years ago, and finally found a home in the verses I wrote – a mysterious collaboration, especially given the circumstances.”

Also, following her US tour with them in July, Alela is about to rejoin her friends in Fleet Foxes at the following European dates:
