Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division is a new book out this October from former New Order and Joy Division bassist Peter Hook. Promising an upfront portrayal from the inside of Joy Division for the first time, how their sound came to define an era and also inspire the post punk generation, underpinned by Hooky’s unique bass guitar melodies such as ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’, “Transmission” and “New Dawn Fades”. As with Hooky’s first book, Peter is to undertake a nationwide signing and event tour to coincide with publication, taking in England, Scotland and for the first time also visiting Ireland with the book. Starting on publication date Monday 1st October, Hooky’s signing tour takes in Manchester, London, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dublin with London, Liverpool, Dublin and Edinburgh, all featuring Q&A sessions along with Hooky meeting fans and signing copies.

Here’s what the man himself says about the release:

“It’s very strange. Over the years Joy Division has become a huge part of music culture. A lot of people think they know what happened. But they don’t. Anyone who’s ever written a book or made a film about Joy Division, unless they were sat in that van or car with us, they don’t know anything about it. Me, Barney, Steve, Ian, Rob, Twinny, Terry and Dave. Only us lot know what really happened…”
