Track Of The Day #171: Press Gang Metropol – The Escape

By TC · On December 4, 2012

Today I bring you a belated addition to the potential top albums of the year. Unlike the media, I don’t need to compile my list before the last quarter is underway and I shall be going to print on 31st December, as it should be! The band in question are Press Gang Metropol and the album ‘Checkpoint’. The band rose out of the ashes of goth band Corpus Delicti and there’s certainly an element of that band’s sound here. But they have dipped their toes heavily into the eighties, coming up with Bahaus and The Human League for two. The bassist clearly learnt his art via Peter Hook and I also got a feel of the Immaculate Fools, an underrated band few of you will recall. All up a tremendous album that is worthy of your immediate attention please.
