‘Hiatus is the production name of Londoner Cyrus Shahrad, who in 2010 released his debut album Ghost Notes, a record mixing classical Middle Eastern and urban electronic influences. The album spawned two singles – the cinematic Save Yourself and Insurrection, a dub crossover featuring Linton Kwesi Johnson – but it was the follow up EP with folk singer Shura that brought Hiatus his widest recognition to date, with melancholic lead single Fortune’s Fool uniting everyone from dubstep to shoegaze fans and being hammered on major radio.
Hiatus and Shura have teamed up for several tracks on the former’s follow-up album, Parklands – scheduled for release in March 2013 – including the first single, We Can Be Ghosts Now, which is dropping on Valentine’s Day. Before that, Hiatus is releasing three free downloads in the last week before Christmas; two remixes followed by a brand new track, complete with video, the latter airing on Friday December
The First one – A remix of Mt. Wolf’s Life Size Ghosts.
