PREVIEW: Field Day

PREVIEW: Field Day

fieldday2014

The London music festival curated by Eat Your Own Ears is due to return this year to Victoria Park as a 2-day event spanning over a weekend. The line-up of course expanded as did the number days. To headline Field Day Saturday, are Metronomy, whose highly-anticipated new album ‘Love Letters’ is due to be released this coming Monday 10 March. Sunday will be headlined by Pixies, and it will be the band’s only London date.

The Field Day line up is international as usual, as it’s joined by Sky Ferriera and her old time collaborator Blood Orange (a.k.a Dev Hynes) from across the pond. The all-female Warpaint also from the US are to play the festival again. There are Aussies Jagwar Ma and Jagwar Ma, with the infectiously catchy Jagwar Ma first playing London on 14 May prior to Field Day. Syrian electronic musician Omar Souleyman joins the line up with his sensational ‘Wenu Wenu’.

At the same time, plenty of UK acts are part of the line up, with The Horrors, Jamie XX, SBTRKT, Tim Burgess and Pond returning to the festival. Money from Manchester will play the festival following from their one-off London show in Heaven. Childhood are among one of the latest addition to the line up, who will bring their summery guitar music to the greens of Victoria Park. Names that have been frequently mentioned in the past year East India Youth and Fat White Family will also be playing Field Day.

With such a great line up full of plenty of acts, it will be interesting to see how Field Day would work out as a 2-day festival.

Full line up for the weekend can be found below. Tickets are now on sale via both online and various music venues and record shops in London.
