Track Of The Day #527: JUNK. – Car

JUNK. Car EP

Hey New York ya big dingus!  Thinking you’re so big and tough with your pizzas, Jmoke Jhops and effortless coolness.  Well listen up and listen up good.  Old York is fighting back.  Yup, that’s right, fact.  Leading the charge (or not, just like, whatever man) are the new Squadron Leader’s of Slackerton, JUNK.  Sure their slacky slack slacker jangly guitars and carefree vocals sound more west coast than east coast, but guess what wise guy?  York is neither.  It’s not on the coast.  Still gonna chin you though.

There are two chords to this song (bar a bonus pair in the middle eight) and the chorus line goes “ba ba bada ba ba”. If it cared any less, it might be trying to hard not to care and end up caring again which whatever.  “Get your shit outta my car” they say.  “You know, if that’s like fine and you get a chance, why do I care it’s just a car, do what you want maaaaaan” is what I hear.  It’s June, the sun is out and Best Coast jangly guitars with J Mascis soloing thrown in for no good reason (why not man?) is as much as I can give a shit about anything during this time of the year.  Why worry about things when you can sit outside in the park in shorts getting sunburned with a can of shit beer, singing “ba ba bada ba ba”?  Exactly.
