Track Of The Day #534: Delay Trees – Fireworks

Finnish gazers Delay Trees craft an achingly haunting slice of wistful gaze that’s unfussy production and dreamy melodies are straight to the point but no less enamoring for that fact. ‘You keep telling me that we still have time/but its not enough/when I was young I was full of life’ sings Rami Vierula each word rippling with regret, beneath a starry sky that shoots with elegant restraint of the reverb heavy woozy guitar lines and precision percussion. In short exquisite.

Fireworks is the second single taken from Delay Trees third album Readymade.
Readymade will be released in the UK in May 2014 with a German release later this year.

Say the band: ”People have said it’s our best release yet and I have to agree with them. Recording and writing it was exceptionally easy. The songs basically wrote themselves. When we hit the studio we just tried our best to copy the vibe of the first demos, trusted our intuition on everything and did very few takes on each song. We wanted to call the album ’Readymade’, since it felt very much like we had just found the songs instead of writing them. It’s like we had found a way to a mystical sphere of music that had overtaken us by surprise.”
