London 6-piece Lola Colt are riding the crest of a wave generated by their mighty fine recently released debut album ‘Away From The Water’, the sextet have just announced they will be out on the road across Europe from the end of January. Today’s sterling track ‘Driving Mr Johnny’, depicts just why we are getting so very hot under the collar about them here at GIITTV towers. This powerhouse widescreen rock outfit lace their monstrous shadowy, blues lashed sound, with toweringly intense female vocals that throb with a deeply resonant passion: it’s crafted by the songwriting partnership of vocalist Gun Overbye and lead guitarist Matt Loft and produced by Bad Seed Jim Sclavuno.
Crystallising their breath-taking live experience into physical form has been an intense and challenging experience as Matt explains “Our music is pure escapism and the thought of recording it felt strangely like trying to put up walls around a dream. What we strived to create is a timeless record that takes the listener on a journey to a different place with each listen”.
