Calling all Welsh MCs, rappers and hip hop heads, Cardiff promotions company Mean Business Media in association with the Moon Club, Cardiff are putting on the first ever Welsh Beatbox Championships on Saturday the 17th of January 2015. The inaugural Welsh version of the Beatbox Championships will be the first event of this scale in Wales and follows after the recent success of the Irish Championships earlier this year.

The event will be held at the Moon club on Wombay Street as part of their annual January ‘Free For All’ festival. According to organisers the Welsh Beatbox Championships will showcase up and coming performers giving them the chance to gain exposure and a platform to ‘represent’ Wales on the World stage.

“Hosted by Radio Cardiff presenter/Hip Hop artist Oort Kuiper, judging the Championships will be current Irish Beatbox Champion; 16 year old Jay ‘Scorch’ Underwood, professional beatboxers/performers ‘Sid FX’ along with Cardiff’s own ‘Beatbox Fozzy’.

The event is to be run as a not-for-profit event relying on donations, with all contributions etc going towards promotion, prizes and towards the 2016 Championships.”
