20 Questions with Sara Lowes

20 Questions with Sara Lowes

unnamed (33)
Hailing from Manchester via the North East, Sara Lowes releases her delectable new full studio album this week ‘The Joy of Waiting’ it’s the follow up to 2011’s debut ‘Back To Creation’. Sara plays keys in The Earlies which has led to work with Daniel Johnston, King Creosote, Jens Lakeman, Jim Noir, Jesca Hoop and Dawn Landes. But with her new record she fully emerges into the sunlight with a gorgeous collection of literate, wonderfully constructed playful multi layered pop songs that elegantly surf the borders of psych-jazz- folk  and sumptuous pop,  through her affecting, knowing vocals each song is given a genuine heart and soul.

“On this second album Sara is influenced by J.B Priestley. These graceful songs are deceptively deep and direct exploring observations on our perplexing relationships with time.

Recorded at home and at the band’s studio in Colne, Lancashire, the long-player was self-produced alongside her saxophonist Nicky Madden (The Earlies, I am Kloot).” We sent her 20 rather random questions which she answered very promptly and directly, enjoy:
