Oh Wonder - 'Technicolour Beat'

Oh Wonder – ‘Technicolour Beat’

Releasing one song every month for the next year, Oh Wonder’s most recent offering will make you move to a ‘Technicolour Beat’. According to the London based duo (previously known as Wonder Wonder), the overall aim of this yearlong project is to eventually release a 13-track album on September 1st 2015. This unusual and slow method of release may seem frustrating to many fans, but for the pretty low-key duo it’s a perfect way to create hype and interest in their music, and more importantly, in their forthcoming album. From the moment I spotted the paint-splashed cover photo displayed for the song, I knew that I had to click the play button, and I’m honestly glad that I did. The simple, lilting electro beat that plays repetitively in the background immediately creates a relaxing and calming mood. You’re either going to feel very happy when you hear this song, or very sad. It’s the type of song you listen to following a huge win or after a breakup. There is no in between, and that’s exactly what makes this song so wonderful. Anthony and Josephine’s voices intermingle in a beautiful, gentle mix of pop and soul. ‘Technicolour Beat’ wholly expresses the duo’s musical and lyrical talent with smooth and hushed harmonies, as they experience love for what seems to be the very first time. Indeed, they’re “caught up in a dream” and moving “in a technicolour beat”. The only disappointing aspect would really be the fact that most of Oh Wonder’s music does sound quite similar. The duo seem to like to stick to the one speciality they have in music, which is soft, hushed voices over a sweet-sounding instrumental, like they do in ‘Lose It’, ‘All We Do’ and ‘The Rain’. So whilst I am expecting even greater things to come from this up and coming band maybe don’t expect too many surprises with any of their upcoming releases.  https://soundcloud.com/ohwondermusic/technicolour-beat For more information about Oh Wonder: https://twitter.com/OhWonderMusic https://www.facebook.com/ohwondermusic
