Preaching from the Pews: Crystal Seagulls

cover170x170.jpegHaving allowed us a perfectly reasonable fortnight to readjust our hearing after listening to the sonic onslaught of their new single ‘The Stroke’, Crystal Seagulls have now unleashed its video accompaniment. Produced, illustrated and edited by the freelance Animator and Filmmaker Samuel Woodman, it adds visual flesh to the marauding, sinewy bones of ‘The Stroke’.

The first of four singles to be released every month by Crystal Seagulls, ‘The Stroke’ hurtles along at breakneck speed before self-combusting in a pool of guitars, bass and drums as it finally crests the rise of the three minute mark.

An as yet unsigned, four piece band from London – John Armstrong (vocals/bass), Jim Lawton (rhythm guitar/vocals), Elliot Whitty (lead guitar, backing vocals), Ben Heliczer (drums) – Crystal Seagulls have already garnered much attention from BBC Introducing radio stations and Steve Lamacq on 6 Music with their fearless take on stacked, no-nonsense, good old honest rock’n’roll.

Crystal Seagulls will follow up this release with three more singles – ‘Sunkissed’ in April, ‘Red Light’ in May, and then finally come June, ‘Prize Baby Blues’.
