Location: Hill Farm, Oxford
Dates:17th – 18th July 2015

Having previously hosted luminaries such as Mew, McLusky, Supergrass and – errr – Rock of Travolta, Oxford’s Truck Festival is a cut above your usual festival fare, presenting acts of the highest calibre in an unpretentious setting (rather than the opposite – which many festival goers have come to accept as the norm). Fun fact for you, by the way: the name “Truck” (apparently) has nothing to do with the fact that the stages are all trucks; it’s allegedly named after “Ten Trucking Greats”, the soundtrack to “Convoy”. The more you know…

This year’s Truck, occurring on the 17th and 18th of July, is set to be the biggest and best yet. The “biggest” is covered by the new Dance Stage, headed by drum ‘n’ bass MVP Shy FX, with My Nu Leng, GotSome and DJ Luck & MC Neat in tow. The “best” part of the equation grows with each line-up addition; Cambridge electro-poppers Clean Bandit (we’ll take a Grammy over a boat racing trophy – cheers), psych types Temples, and sample and synth space racers Public Service Broadcasting join the gloriously unhinged Fat White Family, the unmissably off-kilter Bo Ningen and, of course, living legend Peter Hook (and The Light) performing choice Joy Division and New Order cuts.

One gets the feeling that every Truck so far has been building up to this year’s festival, with a line-up that puts the now ubiquitous gargantuan super-fests that litter the British summer to shame. Trust a festival called “Truck” to deliver the goods.
