Track Of The Day #812: Animal Noise – Sink or Swim

Animal Noise‘s new EP Sink or Swim, the follow-up to their self-released debut album Run Loose, is being released as part of this year’s Record Store Day. It’s an intricate, measured set of songs and the title track is no exception. ‘Sink or Swim’ starts gently with delicately intertwined riffs before bursting into life for the chorus, only to strip back to a folk inspired breakdown. The whole thing revolves around a recurring guitar phrase that sounds folky at lower volumes and mathy at higher, bringing to mind Biffy Clyro before they went all dad rock. It’s an intriguing little curio of a track that certainly whets the appetite for the EP and more to come.
