NEWS: Sounds From The Other City 2016 announces full line up

Date: 1st May 2016
Location: Salford

For over ten years Sounds From The Other City (SFTOC) festival has been the highlight of Mancunian alternative music calendar. Showcasing the best local promoters and spread across 17 stages centred around Chapel Street in Salford, SFTOC 2016 has clearly taken a big step forward in its unfaltering march to redefine city festival formats.

From Gwenno’s cosmic pop and London mcs Flohio and Cassive to hottest new band Pumarosa, the line up is buzzing with new and alternative names. New for 2016 are stages co-curated with London’s Café Oto, The Quietus, Heavenly Records and The White Hotel. Following last year’s collaboration, BBC Philharmonic & Ex-Easter Island Head join forces once again for a one-off performance in Salford Cathedral while other highlights include Chrononautz’s outsider techno, the avant garde folk of Laura Cannell and the dazzling pop of former Race Horses frontman, Meilyr Jones.

Elsewhere, festival goers can witness the birth of SFTOC TV and tune into online radio giants NTS for a one-off Sunday broadcast. Yet all is not quite as it seems, as a strange and spectacular occult theme manifests in visual artist himHallows‘ stage and set designs across the festival site. There’s even a haunted Sea Captain’s Ball at midnight.

Physical tickets are available now at Manchester’s Common, North Tea Power, Font Chorlton and Piccadilly Records. Alternatively, you can get them online from www.skiddle.com.
