Portland singer-songwriter M Ward released his eighth studio album More Rain to critical acclaim recently and now he’s shared the ethereal clip for its new single, ‘I’m Listening (Child’s Theme).’ While More Rain features collaborations with Neko Case, REM‘s Peter Buck, K.D. Lang and The Secret Sisters among others, ‘I’m Listening (Child’s Theme)‘ sees Ward going solo in the most sensitive manner, with the video drawing inspiration from his dreamlike melodies. Directed by long-time collaborator Carlos Foster, the clip marries the song with an impressionistic, psychedelic blur of colours and shapes with images of Ward performing and a young child observing the action. Ward is currently promoting More Rain with a series of shows. As well as extending his US tour, which now spans across the coming months, he’ll be appearing at End of the Road Festival in Dorset this September and performing at two shows in London this week, including an in-store session at Rough Trade East.
