Track of the Day #848: Willow Robinson – Stones

Willow Robinson is a talented chap!  At the age of only 22, he has a voice that belies his young years, indeed sounding as though he’s done this for many, many years with booze-fuelled stories to tell.  As it happens, ‘Stones’ is his debut single, and it’s difficult to picture.

‘Stones’ shows off just how much of a talented young chap he actually is.  It’s loaded to the max with folk and soul, and is so deep you could possibly drown in its beginnings, but by the end of it, there’s a huge mash of sounds – blues, gospel, and a heap more soul – all making ‘Stones’ a mighty beast of a tune; Robinson does it all with style, poise, and a brilliance few possess.  They certainly don’t make music like this anymore.

‘Stones’ is available to buy on an EP of the same name now from iTunes
