PREMIERE: Kate Edwards – All His Actions

A few months after the release of her debut single ‘Every Key,’ Newcastle-based singer-songwriter Kate Edwards (formerly known as Agerskow) is preparing to release a new EP, Kill/Rekindle, later in the year.  In the run up to the launch, she’s premiering her brand new song ‘All His Actions.’  It’s a typically melodic – and melancholic – piano ballad with brooding, atmospheric undertones, reminiscent of Regina Spektor’s darkest works.  Described as “a tale of suspicion, doubt and uncertainty,” the emotional heart of the track is brought to the forefront by Edwards’ deeply evocative, almost hypnotic voice, as well as her intricate and delicate style of piano playing. Treading the line between the personal and the universal, she says “I’d like the song to be open to interpretation.  It could be about me, but it could equally be a story from someone else’s point of view.”  Listen below.

After dropping the moniker of Agerskow last year, Edwards’ debut single under her own name earned her comparisons to Julia Holter and quickly became tipped by local press.  Building on that success, she’s set to headline Blank Studios at Newcastle’s biggest showcase of North East talent, Evolution Emerging, on 28th May.  Kill/Rekindle is expected to be released late in 2016.
