Track Of The Day #864: By The Rivers – One Step Two Step

Leicester is the place to be right now.  Quite frankly, everyone is getting better at everything, whether it be sporting achievements, 500 year late interments of former monarchs or, being part of the city’s truly staggering, burgeoning music scene.  By The Rivers, since their inception back in 2010, have long been at the forefront of that scene, with their high energy purveyance of reggae in its purest form, always putting their own slant on proceedings in order that they don’t just seem like a lazy pastiche of their obvious heroes.

New single ‘One Step Two Step‘ is the perfect example of how the band incorporates elements of classic reggae artists of the past – think Culture, think Misty In Roots – and yet with the use of modern techniques, they endeavour to create a contemporary sound that could quite easily dent the upper echelons of the UK top 40.

Already a big draw in the Midlands, ‘One Step Two Step’ is merely an indicator of just how good, and indeed how big this band can be.

One Step Two Step was released on 20th May 2016 through For The People Records.
