NEWS: King Creosote announces new album ‘Astronaut Meets Appleman,’ shares ‘You Just Want’

Kenny Anderson, aka prolific Fife-based singer-songwriter King Creosote, has revealed that he’ll be releasing new album Astronaut Meets Appleman on 2nd September via Domino.  Speaking of the record, Anderson said: “I wanted to push myself songwriting-wise, so I went in with hardly anything and had to wing it.  I wanted to try and flip the clock all the way back to sound like a younger me – or a less cynical me.  In the past, I’ve been fixated on twisting and wrenching every line, but here I’ve let that go a bit, and I hope that lets you concentrate more on the music; on what’s going on around it.”

Coinciding with the announcement, he’s also shared the record’s opening track, ‘You Just Want.’  A somewhat downbeat and spacious affair, the seven-minute track is characterised by its chopped-up female vocals, harp flourishes and Anderson’s typically distinctive vocals. Listen below.
