Track Of The Day #899: Anteros – The Beat

‘The Beat’, the new single from Anteros is pretty cool.  Having only released their first proper single as a band a few months ago, they somehow manage to sound like they’ve walked the boards for much longer.  There’s something of the late 1980s/early 1990s pop about it and yet it still sounds fresh and contemporary.  The chorus is, quite simply put, glorious; it begs to be danced to.  Indeed, you can dance away the negativity with this one.

‘The Beat’ is a bright little thing with positive vibes in abundance despite the reason behind it.  About the song, Hayden says: ‘I was dumped via text by a guy because I was “too busy”.  He sent it as I was on my way to the studio, so I switched my phone off and wrote down all the things I wanted to tell him.  I guess that makes it a breakup song?’

Try as I might, I can’t seem to find out anything about Anteros, all giving them an alluring but ever so slightly annoying air of mystery.  Anteros is a band to keep tabs on if only to satisfy that itch to know more.

‘The Beat’ is out now, with an EP – Breakfast – due 19th September on Kissability.  Anteros also play a string of dates – including a couple of festival appearances.  Tickets for their London show on the 26th September go on sale this Friday.  Tickets and information can be found HERE
