EXCLUSIVE: Tilman Robinson previews ‘Where We Began’ from new album ‘Deer Heart’

Melbourne composer, producer and sound designer Tilman Robinson releases his new album Deer Heart this October on Hobbledehoy Record Co. Mixing evocative arrangements with dynamic percussion and evocative instruments, the album was mixed by Valgeir Sigurðsson (Björk, Ben Frost, Nico Muhly etc.).  To celebrate, we have an exclusive preview of the affecting track ‘Where We Began’ below:

Written, recorded and meticulously pieced together at various locations in Berlin, Melbourne, the Canadian Rockies and Reykjavík’s Greenhouse Studios, the album follows Tilman’s debut recording Network of Lines, which was nominated for multiple Australian art-music awards.

Academy trained in the fields of both classical and jazz composition, Robinson’s diverse output focuses on the psychological impact of sound. He has received major commissions from broad sources including Arts Centre Melbourne, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, PBSFM, Perth International Arts Festival, and APRA.  He has also worked with luminaries across the world including Nico Muhly, Valgeir Sigurðsson and Ben Frost in Iceland; The Bang On a Can All Stars, Speak Percussion, Sinead O’Connor and Martha Wainwright in Australia; John Hollenbeck in Berlin; and Dave Douglas, Theo Bleckman, Kneebody and Myra Melford in Canada.
