EXCLUSIVE: Listen to JAW remix Hannah Peel’s new single ‘All That Matters’

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and member of The Magnetic North, Hannah Peel is releasing her brand new single ‘All That Matters’ on 9th September.  It comes out in the run up to the launch of her new album Awake But Always Dreaming on 23rd September, and she says of the track: “I wrote this song as a bittersweet mantra for someone close to me and since then, it seems to have also become my own tune to lift me out of troubled moments.”  The song has now been remixed by York-based electronic duo Jonah Lovell and Will Stenhouse, better known as JAW.

The pair talked about how they came to remix Peel’s work: “We first discovered Hannah’s music on Youtube.  We came across her song ‘Harbour’ by chance and loved her voice and the vibe.  We contacted her to see if she’d be happy for us to remix the song, and she replied saying she had a new EP on the way and that she was really interested in getting some remixes done of the single ‘All That Matters’.  She sent over the stems and her latest version of the single and we loved it! We got straight on it and produced something that we felt was pretty special.”

They also spoke at length about how they wanted the remix to sound: “We didn’t want to take too much focus away from Hannah’s vocals because the melody was really strong.  Therefore we went with a chilled, dreamy sort of vibe, whilst creating a more upbeat take on the original.  We achieved this sound using the synths heard in the chorus and with the strings that come in towards the end, doubling up the piano line.  We also kept the original piano track because we felt it fitted perfectly with Hannah’s vocals.  We may have tweaked the original tracks here and there to help achieve the dreamy/chilled vibe. Hannah’s music is really refreshing to listen to and we’re very excited about the upcoming release.”  Listen below.
