Billingham garage rock duo Mouses just released their debut album, handily called The Mouses Album on Sister 9 Recordings. The duo of singer and guitarist Steven Bardgett and drummer Nathan Duff released a string of singles across the last couple of years and built their reputation on a quick-fire, raucous live show. The album is a culmination of their hard work over the last couple of years.
Much of their live energy has been injected into the record, which is only 27 minutes long but is crammed full of catchy hooks, infectious DIY spirit and lyrics that are much deeper than they first seem. There’s a few fan-favourites includes on the LP, including ‘Hollywood,’ ‘Poison,’ and their most recent single ‘Green,’ which, according to Bardgett, is about “the morality of a certain drug and the stigma that surrounds it.” The Mouses Album proves that you can say a lot about the world in a very short space of time, and it’s now streaming on Spotify.
