NEWS: Films about The Melvins, Bonnie Prince Billy and more to be screened at Doc’n Roll Film Festival 2016

The Doc’n Roll Film Festival is returning to London for its 3rd edition this November to showcase a diverse selection of music documentaries on a wide variety of subjects.  Kicking off the festival on 2nd November is the world premiere of Gregory Porter: Don’t Forget Your Music at BFI Southbank, featuring a Q&A with Gregory Porter himself and director Alfred George Bailey.

Across the course of the festival, films about Placebo approaching their 20th anniversary, the untold story of Parliament/Funkadelic, the journey of Melvins, black metal fans in Colombia, the rise of Norwegian disco, a new documentary on Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and the Cairo Gang and much more will be screened.  In the mix, there’s a number of world, European and UK premieres taking place at the event.

Eight of the films premiered at this year’s event have been shortlisted to participate in the prize for Best Music Doc 2016.  The panel consists of Faye Milton (Savages), Simon Taffe (End of the Road Festival), Liz Kershaw, Steve Mason and renowned photographer and filmmaker Dean Chalkley.
