NEWS: Los Campesinos! announce new album ‘Sick Scenes,’ share ‘I Broke Up in Amarante’

Indie-pop group Los Campesinos! have announced details of the follow up to their 2013 album NO BLUESSick Scenes is out on 24th February 2017 and was apparently recorded during Euro 2016 in Frdao, Portugal.  They say that the LP exists “as a release of pent-up aggression, a document of both personal and societal malaise.  But it’s also a celebration of just getting to be a band again, of getting to play music with our friends.”  Thematically, it’s set to touch upon striving to be a better person, repressing anxiety and maintaining a two-beer buzz, and will be “set upon a backdrop of non-league football, prescribed medications and crumbling hometowns.”

The band have also shared the first single from the album ‘I Broke Up in Amarante.’  Gareth from the band explains the concepts behind the track: “The song’s about battling with bad mental health, trying to comfort and reason with yourself over something you can’t control.  Specifically it’s about how my main coping mechanism was to keep myself constantly drunk in the blistering heat of Amarante while being failed by a largely terrible international football tournament.”  Listen below.

The band have also shared a string of new tour dates for 2017, going across the country in April and May.  Details below.

27th April – Arts Centre, Liverpool
28th April – Stereo, Glasgow
29th April – Queens Social Club, Sheffield
