NEWS: Austra announce new album 'Future Politics,' share ‘Utopia’

NEWS: Austra reveals ‘Future Politics’ video and UK tour dates

Electro-pop outfit Austra are releasing their third LP Future Politics on 20th January 2017 via 4AD.  The project of Canadian Katie Stelmanis, the long-awaited album is about “not just hope in the future, but the idea that everyone is required to help write it, and the boundaries of what it can look like are both fascinating and endless.  It’s not about ‘being political,’ it’s about reaching beyond boundaries, in every single field.”

Stelmanis and her band have now unveiled the video to the title track, the LP’s second single.  Beginning with a bold message, the stylish and striking video – directed by Allie Avital – follows Stelmanis as she performs in a series of locations where nature is juxtaposed with industry.  Stelmanis and Avital said of the video: “Future Politics is the breaking down of paradigms.  In this video, we wanted to explore what a world might look like if our values were transformed: instead of glorifying labour, maybe we could learn to glorify the act of doing absolutely nothing.”  Watch below.

Austra will also be heading out on a UK tour in March, as part of a much wider European tour.  Details below.

21st March – Patterns, Brighton
22nd March – Village Underground, London
23rd March – Summerhall, Edinburgh
24th March – The Deaf Institute, Manchester
