The sold-out benefit for the victims of the attack at Ariana Grande‘s Manchester concert, which saw 50,000 people enter Emirates Old Trafford on Sunday 4th June, has raised over 10 million pounds so far for the “We Love Manchester Emergency Fund”, set up by the Manchester City Council in partnership with the British Red Cross.
Millions of viewers around the world tuned in to watch the concert, led by Ariana Grande, to pay tribute to the victims and families who were tragically affected by the attack last month. The show, which sold-out within minutes, raised 2 million pounds via text and online donations during its 3 hour duration.
With less than a week to prepare, concert organisers rallied a number of the world’s biggest stars to perform at the benefit, including Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell Williams, Take That and Liam Gallagher, amongst others. All net ticket proceeds went to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund, with Ticketmaster offering 14,000 free tickets to fans who were in attendance at Ariana Grande’s Manchester show.
Grande has re-released her song, One Last Time, as a charity single, with all proceeds going to the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund.
