NEWS: Public Service Broadcasting share new video

In line with Public Service Broadcasting‘s theme and concept of their new record, They Gave Me A Lamp (out July 7th), the band shares a new video for the title track that focusses on the history of coal mining communities through the UK, which features instrumental post-rock trio Haiku Salut.

Shot in a disused mine in south-east England, They Gave Me A Lamp seeks to address the political awakening within women’s support groups during the South Wales miners strike between 1984 and 1985. The video features VHS footage of the Welsh Valleys mining community, as provided by the South Wales Miners’ Library. As director Brain Wash states; “The camera acts as a wandering spirit floating through darkness and light, as we capture a solemn but powerful performance building to a triumphant, hopeful crescendo”.
