Video Of The Week #80: Silent Forum – ‘How I Faked The Moon Landing’ [PREMIERE]

Silent Forum‘s new single ‘How I Faked The Moon Landing’ is the first release on Libertino’s ‘Ghost Disco’ single club on the 10th of August. Perhaps Silent Forum’s most ambitious cut yet, this six minutes eschews their previous brooding post-punk for a bolder sound that’s jagged riffs and vocal swagger unravels into an uplifting, baggy tinged raffle of riffs, new wave grooves that’s redolent of early Happy Mondays or Flowered Up. It’s a statement of self-confidence.

Today we premiere the accompanying video, watch it above. It features the band in the arcades, greasy spoon cafe, pubs and fairground rides of Barry Island and was directed by Jaydon Martin.

‘How I Faked the Moon Landing’ is very much the Cardiff band finding their sound, as they explain:

“How I Faked the Moon Landing sees us move into a more joyous and euphoric space. The song’s disco beats and poppy new wave instrumentation is the first indication of our forthcoming LP that breaks from our former brooding ‘indie noir’ sound.”

How I Faked the Moon Landing was our original name under a different line-up. We were a fun indie pop act back then, so with the return to a more uplifting approach we felt appropriate to name it after our younger selves.”
