PREVIEW: Mac DeMarco… Will See You Now – Dreamland, Margate, 29th June 2019

Sun, sea, an amusement park and…Mac DeMarco, what more could you ask for on a summery weekend in June?  Mac DeMarco…Will See You Now is exactly what it says on the tin! Spend the day in Margate at a one-day festival put together by the Canadian indie superstar and then get to see the man himself, performing in the headliner slot at the end of the day. What’s not to like?

Even if you don’t end up seeing any of the eight other wonderfully talented acts who make up the rest of the festival’s bill, you can always spend your day lounging around in the sun or having a go on all of the rides, that the amusement park setting of this festival has to offer.

If on the other hand, the music is what drew you the south-eastern coast, then you won’t be disappointed. Sharing the bill with Mac DeMarco are some of this year’s top upcoming and new acts. New Zealander Aldous Harding will be bringing her dulcet tones to the Scenic Stage of the festival, having just played on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the US. The singer-songwriter will definitely be one of the acts not to miss, as she brings her own version of chilled folk vibes to the festival’s sunny evening.

Hot newcomer Yellow Days is also a great booking, as he’ll comfortably grace the crowds with his chilled electro-pop infused beats, which will act as a wonderful warm-up for the Aldous Harding and Mac De Marco performances.

The festival offers something for everyone music-wise and if indie-pop is your thing, then London trio Girl Ray will be the act to catch. For those looking for pure noise, guitars and fury, make sure that you’re standing at the front for Amyl and The Sniffers, who will bring chaos and more to the day’s rock fans. Also performing are Blueprint BlueKirin J CallinanThurston Mooreand Tirzah.

With Mac DeMarco topping the bill, expect more mayhem. Having released his latest album Here Comes The Cowboy earlier in the year, this festival will be a great place for celebration. The late evening setting for the DeMarco headline set, will no doubt provide the perfect scene for watching this new album played out live.

Mac DeMarco won’t be the only one in a celebratory mood, as the festival is being co-curated by London music promoter Bird on The Wire, who celebrate their 10-year Anniversary in 2019. The company which was founded in April 2009, have been in full party mode already this year, by putting on an amazing all-day music festival in Hackney Wick’s Studio 9294, so expect more good times at the Mac DeMarco Margate wonderment. See you at amusement park this weekend!
