NEWS: The Joy Formidable celebrate ten years with new bilingual version of debut EP & Gwyl Aruthrol/ Formidable Fest in Cardiff

The Joy Formidable are celebrating their ten year anniversary this year. To mark this special occasion they are releasing a 10 year double album edition of A Balloon called Moaning their first EP.  Ritzy says “it written a decade ago by Rhyds and I in North Wales & just before we met the beautiful soul that is Mr Thomas.”

Listen to their new Welsh acoustic version of ‘WHIRRING’ below.

The double album will include the 2009 version (re-mastered for Vinyl) plus a newly recorded acoustic Welsh Language version Y Falŵn Drom, and will be released on October 25th.

They say “It’s been a really reflective studio session; returning to the old recordings & transforming them into these beautiful stripped back, intimate versions. It’s exciting hearing them in the Welsh language because now they have new life too & we love exploring that bilingual side of TJF .”

Available on double coloured vinyl, re-mastered, with lyrics. The release is limited to 1000 copies only of the vinyl & the CD preorder here

They are also launching Gwyl Aruthrol/ Formidable Fest a mini festival at The Tramshed in Cardiff on the 23rd of November.

They say: “We see this event as a lovely opportunity for us to invite some bands to play in Wales, in front of an audience that otherwise, might not get to see them. That, and having a bill that promotes Welsh language acts and bands from Wales; just a really inclusive night of great music.
We’ll be doing 2 shows that night, one short acoustic Welsh set & the other full electric.

Blood red shoes, Candelas and Chroma are the acts announced so far.

Full line up to be announced soon; It’s going to be a really special night, so please think about joining us so we can make it the first of many.
