EXCLUSIVE: Dactylion 'Stutter' Premiere

EXCLUSIVE: Dactylion ‘Stutter’ Premiere

At last…. there’s been a bit of a wait but we’ve got a follow up to their brilliant debut EP from 2017, Come InsideDactylion are releasing a brand new single, ‘Stutter’ through the always brilliant Reckless, Yes Records, and GIITTV has the exclusive premiere of it below.

Coming out digitally this Friday, 24th January, ‘Stutter’ is “backed” by ‘Howl’,  which whilst the A-Side is an epic plus five minute anthem, the B-Side is a minimalistic short snap of melancholy.

Sarah Lay, Co-founder of Reckless, Yes says:

It is an evolution of their sound to put a classic pop foundation to the shoegaze direction, which will be familiar to anyone who heard their debut EP. There is still a vulnerability to the lyrics, a haze across the melodies, but it’s a build on their sound and a promising direction“.

We love it because there is an irresistible classic melody to it, at once sounding familiar but also new and fresh. Pulling together their tried and tested shoegaze influence with 90’s alternative indie guitar and a pure pop chorus. Beginning with an arpeggio acoustic guitar, the verse builds with a lilting bass line and reverb heavy guitars, as Hannah’s vocals drift over them. There’s a Smashing Pumpkins feel to the chorus as the distorted guitars almost gently roll in, they aren’t harsh or brash. The second verse adds layered harmonies of Hannah’s echoing voice.

It has all the attributes to be an enduring feature on our stereo all year with hopefully more to come.
