NEWS: Robyn reveals previously-unreleased Avalon Emerson, Floorplan and Louie Vega remixes for ‘Honey’ 12-inch

Konichiwa Records have announced a new series of limited, hand-stamped 12”s (500 copies pressed of each) featuring remixes of Robyn’s Honey album. The focal point of these four 12”s (‘Honey,’ ‘Between The Lines / Beach2k20,’ ‘Ever Again’ and ‘Baby Forgive Me’) are brand new and unheard remixes by Avalon Emerson, Floorplan and Louie Vega. These new remixes come backed with some fan favourites and alternative versions pressed on vinyl for the first time.

These 12”s are being released on June 20th as part of Love Record Stores Day, an event encouraging music lovers to shop online to support their favourite record stores during the coronavirus pandemic. Robyn’s Konichiwa Records is one of the labels partnering with the #loverecordstores campaign to make a one-of-a-kind release available for the day. To celebrate the release, Robyn will be performing live and direct from Stockholm for a special edition of CLUB DOMO on June 20th as part of the Love Record Stores Day event. More info here.

Kim Ann Foxman’s frisky pumper of a remix and Joe Goddard’s emotive take on ‘Honey’ both demanded a vinyl pressing. They operate as perfect partners for Avalon’s future classic version of ‘Honey’ on this 12”.

Another exclusive remix comes from Floorplan aka founding Underground Resistance member Robert Hood and Lyric Hood. Their remix and dub of ‘Baby Forgive Me’ are both bolstered with big room Mid-West house sensibility, complete with signature piano stabs and hypnotic sax hits.

I still remember when I heard ‘Never Grow Old (Re-Plant)’ for the first time,” Robyn says of choosing to work with Floorplan. “To me there is something so pure and important with how that piece of music was arranged. I also love that Floorplan make music together as daughter and father. My grandfather was a priest and the combination of seeing him preach and my parents working in theatre when I was growing up gave me a glimpse into what holding space for other people can do.”

Sharing space with the Floorplan versions of ‘Baby Forgive Me’ is Young Marco’s remix, a previously-unreleased dub version by Young Marco is also included on this 12”.

Completing the line-up of new remixes is a magical take on ‘Beach2k20’ from house music mastermind Louie Vega which adds his timeless groove to the original. The Master At Work pioneer’s 2019 remix of ‘Between The Lines’ also present on this new 12” as are The Black Madonna’s dark-edged take on ‘Between The Lines’.

The final 12” finds Planningtorock’s string-laden take on ‘Ever Again’ complemented by a new Extended version exclusive to this release.
