NEWS: Deer Shed Base Camp now on sale

Back in April as a consequence of the Coronavirus outbreak and in keeping with every other similar live music event, Deer Shed had to cancel this year’s festival. The 11th edition of this hugely popular music and science festival has been re-scheduled and will now run from July 30th to 1st August 2021.

However, the revised government guidelines recently announced and due to come into effect on the 4th of July have given the green light for Deer Shed Base Camp, the socially distanced camping weekender.

As social gatherings on a larger scale are still not permitted, Deer Shed Base Camp is not a festival. As such there are no stages and no organised activities at Base Camp, though entertainment will be provided over the weekend courtesy of Deer Shed’s on-site radio station, Base Camp FM. The scheduled programme of entertainment will include live music and live comedy.

35 acres of Baldersby Park – the gently undulating parkland in North Yorkshire and Deer Shed Festival’s regular home – will be given over to socially distanced camping, with each sized pitch of 15 metres square having its very own portaloo and on board water for washing. Each camping pitch is for a family group that normally lives together.

Half of the designated site will be retained for the camping pitches, arranged in a grid, with the other half given over to enable people to play football, Frisbee, cricket etc. within your own social group. There will be no bars on site though limited food will be available (coffee, crêpes, pizza). The emphasis is upon bringing your own food, drink and alcohol from home for your own consumption.

Such is the interest that has been expressed in Base Camp, the Deer Shed organisers are considering running four consecutive weekends:
