LOCKDOWN LIVE SESSION #13: Steve Hadfield

LOCKDOWN LIVE SESSION #13: Steve Hadfield

As the UK’s Lockdown slowly ends and we glide across our social bubbles like Romero zombies to the newly opened high street, we have another fantastic session for you. Filmed exclusively for God is in the TV, today’s session was recorded by Steve Hadfield (featuring a delightful guest performance from his baby), an ambient and electronic composer based in Leeds.

Tracklist:

1. Tremor

2. Middle Distance

After a few years of inactivity, Hadfield began releasing music with a startling prolificacy in 2018. A co-founder of the excellent Disintegration State label, where the majority of his records are released, Hadfield has released numerous EPs and albums in that time. His music is defined by a beat driven, electronica take on ambient music. His songs are often short, tightly composed and propulsive but bathed in glowing flashes of loops and drones, creating something that is at once kinetic and blissful.

The two tracks Hadfield recorded for us are taken from the excellent Displacement Activity Vol. 1 released earlier this year, and as with the equally intriguing Vol. 2 released in May, suggests he is expanding his sonic palette as his compositions move towards glitchy, free form soundscapes.

Displacement Activity Vol. 2  is available now via See Blue Audio.
