Scottish Album of the Year 2020 award shortlist features eight debuts

 

The 10 album strong SAY Award shortlist was announced this evening.

Concentrating on emerging talent, this year’s list boasts the most debut albums in SAY’s nine year history.

 20 longlisted albums were selected from the 362 eligible releases then whittled down to ten, beating previous winners Anna Meredith and Sacred Paws.


They are:

Callum Easter
is the winner of the popular vote.

The list was announced via Glasgow Science Centre’s ‘Big Screen’ which teased the list hours before the big unveiling, by featuring lyrics from each album on the screen, before finally releasing the official Shortlist at 7pm.

The winner of The SAY Award will be announced on Thursday 29 October, with this year’s ceremony an online event, broadcast as a YouTube Premiere. One artist and their album will be crowned the Scottish Album of the Year,  collecting one of the most lucrative prize funds in the UK: £20,000.

God is in the TV is an online music and culture fanzine founded in Cardiff by the editor Bill Cummings in 2003.
