NEWS: Video – Gwenno remixes Islet’s ‘Geese’

Islet‘s latest album, the wonderful ‘Eyelet’ was nominated for this year’s Welsh Music Prize and won God is In The TV‘s Neutron Prize in September.

Today brings a remix of  ‘Geese’ from the album, by  former Welsh Music Prize winner Gwenno.

She gives it the full Gwenno treatment, re-imagining the original song and bringing out an ethereal pop sound. The video sees Emma Daman Thomas take centre stage, in the hills of rural mid-Wales reflecting the song’s roots.

Inspired by the Raymond Williams novel ‘People Of The Black Mountains‘, two volumes of fictional tales of everyday folk from the Old Stone Age to the Middle Ages.

Emma explained earlier this year, “I look at these hills and mountains and I think about how I am not the first. I think of the many thousands of generations that have looked at them, and how they are not one continuous people or race but many, in constant flux.”  .

The artwork for ‘Eyelet’, created by Emma, has been nominated for Art Vinyl‘s Best Art Vinyl Award 2020 and you can vote for it here
