Thanks for the thoughtful feedback on the hotly debated topic of apostrophes around band names, I will try to cater to all audiences next time. It's also great to see you extend just as much of your remarkable eye for grammatical detail to your own comments, as you do to your scrutiny of mine.

First off, I need to point out all the grammatical errors in this. Commas are in the wrong place, there is lack of capitalization where it is needed, and you don't need to add apostrophes everytime you write 'Brand New'.
Second, I liked the questions the interviewer picked, and Jesse's answers. He has some great opinions that I agree with, it's scary how I think the same things on the same subjects. I think overall Jesse is a genius as a musician, and a kind, spirited person.

Brand New has been one of my favorite bands for a very long time. Jesse Lacey is a long time hero of mine and continues to amaze me. I've always known he had a good heart and this just goes to prove that even more.

BLUR ARE BIGGEST BRIT AWARD WINNERS WITH 2,700% SALES UPLIFT AT AMAZON.CO.UK Brit Awards dominate the music chart at Amazon.co.uk and Adele’s back at the top spot with an uplift of 166% for award-winning album ‘21’ 22nd February 2012 – The Brit Awards continue to be one of the most influential events in music with award winners benefiting from significant sales uplifts at Amazon.co.uk following the televised ceremony. Blur’s Outstanding Contribution Award and closing performance resulted in a 2,700% increase in sales of their albums in the hours after the awards. Brit winners currently take twelve of the top twenty spots in the music bestseller chart at Amazon.co.uk, with Best British Female Adele back at the top spot with Album of the Year ‘21’ which saw a 166% uplift. Ed Sheeran, another big winner on the night, also made a reappearance in the top ten at Amazon.co.uk with a 796% uplift in sales of CDs and MP3 downloads of his album ‘+’. “Adele may have been cut short during her Album of the Year acceptance speech but her reign in the charts continues with orders for both of her ‘21’ and ‘19’ albums after the Brits last night propelling her back up the top ten,” said Paul Firth, music and MP3 manager at Amazon.co.uk Ltd. “While Adele is back at the top of the chart it was Blur who saw the biggest uplift in sales of CDs and MP3 downloads last night with a 2,700% increase following the ceremony with many of their fans from the 90s looking to reconnect with the Britpop band.”

I'd have to listen to the record to be able to answer that :) Which in fact I'm planning to do after reading your review...:) But as far as the US, yeah, I think you hit it on the head, the sheer size and variety of it still impress and even overwhelm me at times even after living here for 20+ years...It's also not nearly as homogenous as far as politics, cultures and people go as is generally assumed IMO. It's just that the MSM paint a rather one-sided picture that doesn't really do justice to the complexities of this country. Which I guess is why we have artists like Lambchop...

Thanks for your comment Phil. It's interesting to hear how things are for someone experiencing it first hand. I guess part of Europe's issue with understanding America is its sheer size and variation. As such, maybe it just comes across as something fantastically malleable? Maybe Lambchop succeed in a more realist depiction of place than it is possible for me to understand.

The America of Paris, Texas is still very much alive. As a European immigrant to the US maybe I can add the concept of geography. America's geography and climate differ vastly from region to region. The streets of New York have almost nothing in common with the vast empty spaces of the midwest, to name just one example. Paris, Texas and No Country for Old Men are both set in the American Southwest, more specifically SW Texas. From experience I can tell you there are still huge areas there that are very remote and sparsely populated, small dusty towns connected by one road only, where the sounds and vistas of the desert drown out what little human activity there might be...

Haha well this is a column about debunking hype from a personal perspective. There are plenty of 'positive' Mumfords reviews. I think the point is to choose a act/artists whose hype has been over the top in your opinion, and detail your reasons why, it's a ongoing feature and very subjective of course...
