20 year old Salford born singer Ren Harvieu, has released details of her debut single “Through The Night” released on July 4th through Kid Gloves/Island Records.’Through The Night’ shows a great maturity for a new artist, Ren’s genuinely soulful voice towers above a Spector-ish arrangement. Stream the track below.

Ren has performed live a handful of times including guest slots with Glasvegas, who are enormous fans, in fact Ren and the Glasvegans have recorded a haunting version of Roy Orbison’s “Cryin’” watch the video below.

Co-written by Ren, Chris O’Neill and Ed Harcourt and produced by Jimmy Hogarth, this beautifully orchestrated slice of classic yearning is taken from the album, also entitled, ”Through The Night” which will be released in September. Ren has just been confirmed to appear on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury on Saturday June 25 and has also been announced as special guest on The Courteeners Haigh Hall show in Wigan on June 30th.

Ren Harvieu is brand new, just out of her teens, she sounds one way and looks and acts completely differently. Very little is known about her, virtually no online presence, no Brit School training, no showbiz connections, just a young girl with a truly remarkable voice and a set of songs that will stir your soul and break your heart.

The youngest of three girls, her dad sang in pubs in and around Manchester, while Ren sang in the odd local talent show, one called ‘Salford Superstar’. She attended what she calls the Primark version of a performing arts school where she was told she couldn’t sing. After meeting a friend of a friend, who had a recording studio she recorded a couple of songs which the guy who was to become her manager first heard while trawling through Myspace. Immediately realising he had come across a truly unique talent, he helped her record properly and soon after, on the strength of a handful of stunning songs, they had a deal with Island Records.

Audiences will have further chances to see and hear Ren live as she has been confirmed as the special guest on Benjamin Francis Leftwitch’s forthcoming UK tour
