Preaching From the Pews: Love Inks

loveinksIn 2010 Warpaint carved their way into the hearts of many, and despite the heated pressure of hype, the L.A. band pulled off a decent debut in the form of The Fool. That triumph has obviously opened the flood gates for deadpan front women. Or at least Austin’s Love Inks would have you believe.

Bad thing? Absolutely not. After all the shrieking, pouting and howling of the last few years, the world could do with a little serenity. That’s not all Love Inks have up their collective sleeve: they can rustle up a decent pop tune too. Sweet odes to something sinister, their music puts most of Britain’s comparatives to shame.

LOVE INKS “Blackeye” by HellYes

Earlier on in the year Love Inks released their debut E.S.P. on Hell, Yes! in the EU and City Slang in the US. The band remain relatively wordless when it comes to an online presence, but their Tumblr documents their antics in the form of faux-polaroid shots.
