Preaching from the Pews: Pet Scenes

petscenesNow for a serving of something noisy, abrasive, and in your face. Pet Scenes are a four legged outfit from Limehouse, London.

Since forming at the beginning of 2011, Pet Scenes have been busy recording a series of demos in their tiny practice room next to a transvestite club.

It shows their debut E.P released in July is a three track salvo, of manacing intent, twisted vocalising, and swampy grimy punk rock. ‘Don’t fuck your friends!’ they insist on the cracked ‘Dell Sez’ that sounds like a rawer more brutal vision of EMBD clambering out from the sewars…’Habit’ tumbles in a mangled mess of bodies, pumelling percussion, and slicing its the sound of desesperation, an addict on a desperate, destructive search for the next fix. Iggy and the Stooges hammered into bruised new shapes…. Perhaps the standout is final offering ‘Purple Old’ that’s stream of sconsinscouness vocals are spat out as effectively as Jello Biafra, in the midst of a hail storm of thudding basslines, clattering riffage, and a barracking drum fills. It’s brutal!
Pet Scenes are spreading….
