We don’t claim to (always) be ahead of the curve here at GIITTV. Indeed, the idea of an exclusive is old hat sometimes. We aren’t afraid of further shining a light on acts that have already been picked up elsewhere. Californian band Letting Up Despite Great Faults recently received worldwide attention when they were featured on a trailer for the new Facebook apps – featured on BBC News, ITV, Channel 4 and just about every other news channel across Europe, which is kinda good going in terms of promotion, huh?

But just who are Letting Up Despite Great Faults? Hailing from Los Angeles, California, the band is the sonic diary of founding member Mike Lee. They spin a hazy, wistful blast of effortless gaze-pop, the lilting melodies of early Pains of Being Pure at Heart, swirled with the atmospheric sweeps of  M83.

Mini-album Paper Crush was released last month on Heist Or Hit Records – it depicts an outfit as at home with the skyward looking melodies of pop standout ‘Teenage Tide’ as they are with the hushed minimalism of ‘Repeating Hearts’, a song that sidles up against the buzzing electronic dreaminess of next single ‘Sophia in Gold’. Whatever way you cut it, Letting Up… posses a sound that’s built for soundtracking endless summer days and bittersweet love affairs.

The band plan to tour the UK in early 2012.
