LISTEN: Ruby Goe – Get On It (Eli Remix)

Ruby Goe

Ruby Goe is a deliciously unique pop proposition who releases her brand new single ‘Get On It’ through her own label Goe Music on the 13th of February. The single narrates an exhilarating evening out on the town, from getting ready to catching the infamous 149 bus to a chorus which celebrates the hedonism of the most memorable nights out. It’s instantly addictive and Goe’s vocals soar over horns,  marching drums and a propulsive beat which sounds bombastic in size.

‘Get On It’ is the perfect taster of what’s to come this year as the London based singer readies what will undoubtedly be one of the albums of 2012.  The track has already been championed by Edith Bowmen and Fearne Cotton and is currently on the Radio 1 daytime play-list,  and for the week of the 16th of January Ruby is the BBC Introducing ‘Tip of the Week’,  as well as receiving airplay on XFM and Capital – an incredible jump-start to the year.

Goe names Cheryl Lynn, Fonda Rae, Salt’n’Pepa and Africa Bambaataa as her musical inspirations and this eclectic selection only touches the surface of what an exciting new talent she is. Already drawing comparisons to the likes of Lykke Li, Robyn and Santigold, Ruby has also collaborated with Stanton Warriors on their forthcoming album and is penning tracks for a variety of other artists.  Of her craft she says: “Pop should be quick, spontaneous and natural. I like to start with a concept, a chorus line and work around it. Everything grows from that initial idea.”

With such strong visuals, vocals and songs in place it really is time to pay attention to Ruby Goe.
