Icarus release 1000 digital variations of their new LP

Electronica legends Icarus have releases their new album ‘Fake Fish Distributi’ in a igeneous way. Icarus released a hugely successful album (I Tweet The Birdy Electric) on Leaf records a few years ago and are back with new record Fake Fish Distribution. FFD has been produced in 1000 variations via specially developed generative software.

Inspired by rife digital music piracy (MEGAUPLOAD ETC) Icarus have put together their new album (Fake Fish Distribution) in such as way as to produce a digital product that circumnavigates the impersonal nature of the typical MP3 by creating (in partnership with trailblazing music software company Ableton) an album that will be available in 1000 variations. When the customer buys one of the versions they become the sole owner of that version.

Aside from being a fascinating exercise in digital merchandising, Fake Fish Distribution is also a musical joy to behold. A cavaclade of IDM/electronic ambient treasures – FFD is for anyone with an open mind and an ear for sonic perfection.

Icarus are next appearing live @ Cafe Oto, Dalston, London on 15th Feb 2012. Supporting Matthew Bourne for Eat Your Own Ears.

Fake Fish Distribution will be on sale via http://www.not-applicable.org/ on 6th Feb.
