Awesome Toronto grime-punks Odonis Odonis release their latest single ‘Busted Up’ on 21st May it’s lifted from their awesome debut album ‘Hollandaze’ – that came out on FatCat last year.‘Busted Lip’ was actually OO’sdebut ultra-limited edition 7″ single on Canadian label We Are Busy Bodies prior to signing to FatCat last year.Revel in it’s lo-fi noise here:

Originally a solo project for prolific songwriter/ bandleaderDean Tzenos, Odonis Odonis has in the last year also become a formidable live concern. The April dates will be Odonis Odonis’ first in the UK and will be followed by European shows before the band return for the Great Escape (10th-12th May, details tba).

Based in Toronto, Odonis Odonis make killer hook-driven tunes that hark back to the classic ‘80s sounds of The Jesus & Mary Chain, Pixies, Big Black and The Cure. Like a good post-modernist, however, these influences colour but do not define Odonis Odonis.

Compiled from a wealth of material written and home-recorded between January 2009 and September 2010, Dean recorded virtually all of ‘Hollandaze’ alone in a tiny home studio, writing two or three songs a day – generally starting with drum programming – before adding bass then guitar and vocals, experimenting with a host of different styles.
