Preaching From The Pews: This Is My TV

thisismytv

With a name after our own heart like This Is My TV there was always a fair chance we would like this boy/girl duo based in London. Indeed their debut single ‘Mikey’ (video below) shares a sonic pallette with the likes of the Joy Formidable, The Deaf Club and early 90s gaze pop bands. With its widescreen instrumentals, scatter gun drums and Giita’s insistantly bittersweet-vocals that throb with heart, but most of all ‘Mikey’ possesses a irresistable hook line that shudders through the air before giving you a great big embrace.

Here’s the This Is My Tv story in Giita De Ridder’s own workds:

“Sim & I met in late 2008 when I came to London from the Netherlands on a exchange project, we arranged to meet to have a “jamm” and I pretty much never left his side. From there on we went several musical directions in search of “our sound” which brought us to forming This Is My TV in early 2011. There isn’t much history for TIMTv itself as of yet seeing MIKEY is our very first single with many more to come. “
But what of This Is My TV’s future plans? “We’ll be in the studio again soon recording some new tracks so more releases can be expected for this year. During the last few years we’ve established some good working relationships with london promoters and find our self’s in the lucky position of a helping hand by Musicborn who we collaborate closely with in terms of our London shows. We’re planning to start gigging throughout the UK by mid 2012. We also have a small tour in Italy and some late summer shows in the Netherlands booked which we are very excited about.”

So This Is My TV definetly ones to keep your eyes and ears on in 2012 if you pardon the puns?!
